Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has rendered an unqualified apology to patrons and Ghanaians for pulling a gun on stage at the 20th edition of the Ghana Songs Awards.
According to him, he pulled out his gun “out of purely natural instincts.”
A brawl erupted among Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale camps at the 20th anniversary of the Vodafone Ghana Audio Awards, Sunday.
Pandemonium broke out soon following Stonebwoy was introduced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’. This is the fifth consecutive time he is winning the award.
Just when Stonebwoy, who was picking up the award for the fifth time, was about to supply his acceptance speech for the award, Shatta Wale commenced walking to him on stage.
It is unclear what Shatta Wale’s intentions ended up contemplating the fact that the two, in excess of the several years, have hardly witnessed eye to eye.
There are ideas that Shatta Wale, who was evidently upset immediately after his arch-rival was announced the winner of that classification, was strolling up to the phase to celebrate with Stonebwoy.
Just as he approached the phase, blows begun flying among Stonebwoy’s entourage and Shatta Wale’s crew.
Law enforcement and protection personnel could be seen speeding to phase to avert the brawl from escalating.
Stonebwoy pulled out a gun on stage through the scuffle as some of his team customers try to shield the gun.
The battle disrupted the Awards for just about 30 minutes. Some visitors, together with actress Jackie Appiah, rushed out of the location.
Shortly immediately after both equally camps had been divided, Shatta Wale, who had already picked up two awards on the night time, posted on Twitter “Don’t participate in with a lion like that …He dislikes to smell blood !!!”
When Stonebwoy arrived on stage to acknowledge his next award for the night time, ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’, he apologized for the incident.
“I’m seriously sorry for the incident that transpired previously on and I only had to react out of normal instincts because we all know how premeditative some men and women can be.
“We’ve observed on social media the threats and every thing so we could not appear in unprepared for the reason that something could have took place like you fellas saw,” he mentioned.
Stonebwoy additional that “I appear in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole masses of Ghana that the Awards is heading to continue on. Thank you pretty audio for supporting my new music, for supporting most people else’s music…by their deeds we have all found.”
