According to him, “it is basically unachievable for any administration not to do a bit of borrowing.”
Mr. Baako’s feedback had been in response to feedback by Tamale North Member of Parliament, Alhassan Suhuyini.
Speaking on Newsfile on Joy FM, the NDC legislator pulled up a Tweet he claimed was posted by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia prior to the NPP received the 2016 elections.
Mr. Suhuyini argued that the erstwhile NDC administration was vindicated in its prudent debt portfolio, when accusing the Akufo-Addo governing administration of too much borrowing in its two and 50 % decades in office environment.
Reacting to this, Mr. Baako challenged the authenticity of the stated tweet, adding Dr. Bawumia in no way reported the NPP would not borrow when elected into workplace.
“I do not feel Dr Bawumia ever made these kinds of feedback. This Tweet could not have occur from him due to the fact it is practically unachievable for any administration not to do a little bit of borrowing.
“This Tweet Suhuyini is quoting from is of doubtful validity,” the veteran journalist stated.
Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament has been essential of the NPP government’s borrowings, citing Ghana’s ¢200 billion credit card debt as at the conclude of the initially quarter of 2019 as unprecedented.
