The Citizen Watch Ghana, a feel tank, has expressed deep fret about the government’s incapacity to establish a single manufacturing facility under the 1D1F application in the Volta Location.
“We just cannot understand why the federal government and the 1D1F coordinating device have abandoned the Volta Location, although the market potentials in the area are huge”, mentioned Mr Elikem Agbenyega, Coordinator for Citizen View Ghana.
In accordance to Mr Agbenyega, the construction of a sweet potato factory in Tsito in the Volta Area has been halted, even as there is large sweet potato cultivation underway.
He reported that the region prides itself with commodities these kinds of as avocado, cocoa, ginger, lemongrass, cassava amongst other individuals, but has been exempted from the “national cake.”
He has urged the governing administration to make the Volta Region the next focus in the 1D1F initiative.
He pressured that the Volta Region similarly has potentials like the Central, Jap amongst other areas.
Mr Agbenyega further more urged the authorities to deliver credit rating help for the non-public sector by the Exim Lender Ghana or direct credit from the government via the Ministry of Finance for the building of these factories in the region.
This, he explained, would make massive careers for the youths and the out-growers in the location.
He expressed the need to have for the government to offer subsidy for items or create beneath the 1D1F plan so they turn into more competitive on both equally the regional and international marketplace.
He also named on the govt to do the needful by setting up street networks in the districts which would direct to these factories.
Some 18 factories have been accredited so much underneath the 1D1F and an more 50 are predicted to be accredited.
The governing administration has indicated that there will be a pineapple processing factory in the Ekumfi District, a pineapple and orange processing manufacturing facility in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) municipality, a cassava starch processing manufacturing facility in the Fanteakwa District.
There would also be a cashew processing manufacturing unit in Tema, a fruit processing manufacturing unit in the West Akim District, a shea butter processing manufacturing facility in the Accra metropolis, an avocado processing manufacturing unit in Ningo-Prampram and the cultivation and processing of sweet potato into bread, chips and biscuit in Gomoa West.
In the manufacturing and distribution of prescribed drugs, a few factories have been marked for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri municipality, the Accra Metropolis and the Suhum District.
There will also be an agricultural inputs producing plant in the Tema metropolis, garment manufacturing unit in Accra and a tile and brick creation factory at Tanoso in the Brong Ahafo Area.
