Officials of the Immigration Support in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region have arrested 38 persons who allegedly entered the region through unapproved routes by means of Ghana’s Japanese border.
The 38 persons contain 23 Nigerians, 10 Togolese, one particular Malian, one Ivorian, a person Beninois, and two Ghanaians.
They were arrested at the Sogakofe barrier heading in the direction of Accra on Monday.
Main Superintendent Shradrach Azangweo, South Tongu District Commander of the Ghana Immigration Services informed the Ghana Information Agency the culprits were returned to Aflao to guide the Aflao Immigration Service in investigations on the illegal routes applied.
Mr Azangweo claimed, 16 other folks who entered Ghana immediately after the closure of the borders were also arrested on Sunday at the Sogakofe Barrier and becoming quarantined at an undisclosed site for assessments on Coronavirus.
He recommended professional bike riders for supporting the Service to prevent folks from crossing into Ghana by way of unapproved routes.
