The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has explained videos trending on social media that sought to suggest that some troopers on the Procedure Covid Basic safety have been manhandling citizens are bogus.
Operation Covid Security is the joint safety process drive enforcing the lockdown in the Better Accra Metropolitan Region and Larger Kumasi Metropolitan Place aimed at stemming the spread of the coronavirus disease.
A statement issued Tuesday night by the public relations directorate of the GAF said the video clips are doctored and re-cycled video clips of previous activities – some which did not even originate in Ghana.
“It would be recalled that on Saturday, 28th March 2020, Television set 3 Information carried a information merchandise purportedly showing the arrival of troops in Kumasi to guarantee people conform to the partial lockdown directives by the President. The purported recording showcased a voice which issued threats to citizens of the Ashanti Area of meant brutalities by the Navy.
“This reportage, just after our investigation, was uncovered to be a doctored video. The explained troops were in simple fact, section of a disinfection training which took spot recently in Accra but experienced no bearing to the limitations programme now underway,” the statement signed by GAF Director of Community Relations, Colonel Eric Aggrey-Quashie, explained.
The GAF claimed it is certain that the deliberate circulation of these unrelated and doctored social media material is a destructive endeavor by some men and women to forged the procedure in a poor light-weight.
The Armed Forces in the assertion also certain the public that real incidents of the wrongful use of force by soldiers attached to the operation will be investigated and all those discovered culpable disciplined.
