No clinical merchandise accepted as cure for coronavirus – Food and drug administration warns general public


The Food items and Medication Authority (Food and drug administration) has named on the general public to disregard any health-related items together with in-vitro diagnostic purported to avert, detect, take care of or treatment Covid-19.

The Authority warned all actors in the clinical product source chain to conduct due diligence on all solutions meant for the analysis or treatment method of Covid-19.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mrs Delese A.Darko, the Main Government Officer, Food and drug administration and copied to the Ghana Information Agency in Accra.

The statement said the Authority obtained a notification through the Environment Health and fitness Organisation Speedy Notify technique on falsified health-related products and solutions including the in-vitro diagnostics.

The statement urged all actors in the health-related products source chain to clarify with the Authority any suspicious products meant for prognosis or treatment of Covid-19.

It mentioned medicinal products should really be registered with the Food and drug administration just before use and imported only by means of Tema Habour and Kotoka International Airport.

“We desire to guarantee the community that our officers in the locations are doing the job to guarantee that the merchandise do not get into our source chain”, it said.
