AMA provides canopies for displaced Outdated Fadama squatters

The Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) on Thursday provided 5 canopies to go over squatters at Outdated Fadama in Accra who have been compelled to snooze in the open up after their makeshift dwelling constructions were demolished.

The squatters at the slum community ended up on Wednesday evening captured by Joy News cameras sleeping tough subsequent the demolition workout by the city authorities.

The pictures of the squatters sleeping tough brought to the fore the veracity of a claim by the metropolis authorities that short-term houses would be presented for the impacted squatters.

The AMA demolished the makeshift properties of the squatters to pave way for prepared dredging of the Korle Lagoon.

But some of the around 1,000 influenced slum dwellers have abandoned the canopies.

They informed Joy News’ Kwesi Parker Wilson that the canopies will not secure them against mosquitoes and the harsh temperature problems.
