Important Boakye Gyan (Rtd) launched after law enforcement interrogation more than ‘civil war’ remark

Previous Member of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), Big Boakye-Djan (Rtd) has been launched from police custody right after he was arrested for allegedly beating war drums.

The retired soldier is alleged to have claimed there will be civil war should really the Electoral Commission (EC) compile a new voters sign up.

Law firm for the retired significant Foster Akwasi Asante reported stating that there could be a civil war must the EC carry on with the impending voter sign up compilation.

He added that the comment of the retired soldier was not meant to instigate or to get in touch with folks to war but he was only admonishing the EC not to do anything at all that could set off civil unrest.

The comment induced controversy with top members of the ruling New Patriotic Celebration (NPP) calling for his arrest.

On Tuesday afternoon, the police in the Drobo in the Jaman South District of the Bono Area invited Major Boakye-Djan for questioning.

A person of the Nationwide Democratic Congress (NDC’s) lawyers, Edudzi Kudzo Tamekloe verified the arrest on his Fb page.

He wrote “Comrade Maj. Rtd Kojo Boakye Djan has been picked up by the Cyber Crime Unit, CID Device Headquarters, Accra and despatched to Drobo law enforcement.
His statements have been taken.
Granted bail with just one surety.
We shall survive this holocaust.”

Adom News’ Odehyeeba Akwasi Donyina claimed that some users of the opposition Countrywide Democratic Congress (NDC), led by the NDC Bono Youth Organiser, Efo Walanyo, stormed the law enforcement station to demand his release.

Mr Walanyo, who alleged the police intends to preserve Boakye-Djan in custody, vowed to resist the “oppressors rule of the Akufo-Addo govt.”

The retired soldier was granted a ¢20,000 bail with one surety and is meant to current him to the law enforcement once each 7 days while investigation is ongoing.
