New voters’ sign-up brouhaha: NDC opts out of IPAC conference [ARTICLE]

The IPAC conference will target on the voter registration exercise, of which some political events and other stakeholders have known as for the work out to be put on maintain and also go over the exclusion of the existing voters’ identification card ahead of submitting the Structure Instrument (CI) to Parliament.

The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Boamah Otokunor, speaking to Accra-dependent Citi FM referred to as on the Electoral Fee (EC) to set good mechanisms in put and organise a reputable IPAC assembly.

He claimed “The final IPAC conference which was held on 25th March 2020, we elevated various issues which led to political events boycotting and we [NDC] walked out. That assembly does not represent a good IPAC assembly for the reason that they experienced divided just one committee into groups– you could want to call it double tracking– to choose on the very same situation. And we consider that with any this kind of strategy, you are not likely to appropriately value and comprehend the challenge and contributions from many political functions and we believe that, decision generating will be problematic. So we make a decision not to take part in that conference simply because we elevated a dilemma previously and we are waiting for a response which did not arrive so we resolved to boycott the conference for the reason that it was not likely to serve the reason for which it was identified as.”

“Yet again, we imagined the Electoral Fee would have realized its classes and now we have been known as to an additional IPAC meeting on Wednesday with the very same arrangement that we are heading to have the conference in two halves with some coming in the morning and some coming in the afternoon and we consider this is an improper way or organising an IPAC meeting and it gives one particular the prospect to perpetrate any mischief in the meeting and we believe the National Democratic Congress are unable to be component of that meeting. If the Electoral Commission is refusing to set in location the correct mechanism to keep a right legitimate IPAC assembly which conclusion can be recognized by all stakeholders, then NDC [officials] are not going to take part in the Wednesday conference and we have given that relayed our problems to the EC again,” he mentioned.
