Chairman of the People’s Countrywide Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah states his invitation by the Ghana Police Support in excess of an alleged risk on the Electoral Commission is politically motivated.
This according to him is due to the reality that the procedure was initiated only following a connect with for his arrest by the Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan.
Criminal Investigations Section of the Ghana Law enforcement Service on Thursday, Might 28, 2020, invited Mr. Mornah for questioning about some pronouncements he designed in opposition to the Electoral Commission (EC) which they deem as a menace.
He is anticipated to appear prior to the CID on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
In the letter, sighted by JoyNews and signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCOP) Barima Tweneboah Sasraku II, Mr. Mornah has allegedly vowed to resist each attempt by the EC to compile a new voters’ register.
“People who are already Ghanaians and now registered are heading to be taken out of the voters’ sign-up.
“Don’t feel confusion will come at the registration station but if confusion comes there, you believe the EC team will be safe and sound?
“We will beat every other there and will get rid of each and every other there if that is what the EC needs to guide this nation into,” the letter quoted Mr. Mornah as declaring.
But reacting to the letter in an interview with JoyNews’ Kwesi Parker-Wilson, Mr. Mornah stated he is not perturbed by the development.
According to him, while the invitation will be honored, he does not regret his utterance, hence will not retract.
‘They (CID) need to be assured that I am not departing from any word that I uttered mainly because the Electoral Commission’s steps are going to lead to confusion.
“And when there is confusion at our registration facilities, even the employees of the Electoral Commission will not be risk-free from the confusion.
“I insist there will be confusion. If I alert you about the hazards and you invite me, I will come and repeat them,” he mentioned.
