NDC’s position on new sign-up menace to our democracy – Danquah Institute


The Nationwide Democratic Congress’s place on the compilation of a new voters’ register is an assault on the country’s democracy suggests Mr. Richard Ahiagbah

Mr. Ahiagbah who is the Government Director of Danquah Institute argues that the procedures main to the compilation of the recent voters’ sign up was fraught with illegalities, insisting that there can’t be any fair justification to protect its use.

At a news conference in Accra, the Government Director explained in spite of a Supreme Court’s choice to rid the sign up of unqualified people, the Charlotte Osei led fee blatantly disregarded the court’s directives.

In accordance to him, the EC unsuccessful to offer room for the qualification of a registrant, which manufactured it difficult for the fee to clear the sign up in 2016, adding that the recent sign up should to have been changed then.

He questioned why the opposition NDC insipite of all the evidence offered would nevertheless kick against moves to sanitize the sign up.

He thinks their stance is a risk to the country’s democracy.

Mr. Ahiagbah claims the compilation of a new sign up would restore the sanctity of the country’s Electoral approach, producing it no cost and good.

He criticized the lack of clarity in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) communications on the voter registration and other election-relevant controversies.

The Government Director then admonished the EC to open up for engagement and objectively evaluate recommendations put forth by foremost civil society businesses and associates of the anti-corruption coalition.
