Sports activities Ministry sets up ‘Youth in Elite Sports for Ghana’ to lighten athletes’ monetary stress


The Athletics Minister has declared that a stimulus deal will be launched to cushion the economic burden on athletes because of to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Isaac Kwame Asiamah told a press briefing Wednesday, that the package deal will be named ‘Youth in Elite Sports for Ghana’.

“The pandemic has triggered immeasurable problems to the preparing of Ghanaian athletes who have been planning the different qualifiers for the Olympic Games with untold economic hardships,” he lamented.

“As a way to mitigate their plight, a collaboration involving the Youth Work Company, the Nationwide Sporting activities Authority, the Ghana Olympic Committee, the Nationwide Paralympic Committee (NPC), the Ghana Football Affiliation, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the establishment of a stimulus package identified as ‘Youth in Elite Sports for Ghana’ will be introduced shortly.

“The programme is to present the desired mitigation stimulus to abate the financial impact on their planning,” he said.

Sporting activities was not factored into the stimulus offer set for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

The Youth in Elite Sporting activities for Ghana is made to fill that hole.
