Juliet Ibrahim has shared her be concerned of combined-race individuals like her remaining referred to as ‘half-caste’.
The actress who is of Lebanese and Ghanaian descent, took to social media to address this concern.
Crafting about from her experience, she said it was appalling to her when a good friend advised her that he does not see her as a black woman.
“I experienced a random discussion the other working day with another person and it was appalling when he outlined passively to me that he doesn’t see me as a #Blackwoman! He argued, you are not “black enough” your pores and skin is not dim enough, your hair not kinky more than enough. And thus my siblings and I do not “count” as Black,” she wrote.
The mom of a single continued that “Now this is Accurately, what we are fighting to correct among ourselves and the earth at massive. I am a black female! When I’m abroad among the whites, I am categorised and identified as a black woman, however, correct amongst us Africans, I’ll be referred to as a 50 percent-Caste! This is the most derogatory term to describe a human being of blended race or combined ethnicity.”
Concluding her impression on this issue amidst the world-wide protest in opposition to racism, she said “We are referred to as mixed-race or multi-racial! Combined race people today are no significantly less black than their dim-skinned counterparts. So, let’s all say NO to RACISM, TRIBALISM, COLORISM, and SEGREGATION. Let us train and teach our small children to increase up and settle for persons for who they are and not by the shade of their skin”.
