Females make up 51.73% of registered voters – EC reveals

The Electoral Fee has exposed that women of all ages make up 51.73% of the full 16,963,307 registered voters.

In accordance to the system there are 8 million 775 thousand 609 (8,775,609) gals registered, when compared to 8 million 187 thousand 698 males (8,187,698).

This was announced by EC Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa at the 9th version of the “Let The Citizen Know” push briefing. This celebration was organised by the Electoral Commission to update the nation on the developments manufactured towards the impending elections.

“In spite of the COVID-19 fears and threats, the turnout by Applicants at all Registration Centres all over the region was substantial, major to the high quantity of registrants at all Registration Centres nationwide”, she claimed.

The EC pointed out the Higher East Region recorded the highest selection of woman registrants for every populace with 54.6% while the Western Region had the maximum quantity of male registrants for each inhabitants with 51.2%.

She also mentioned that all these figures are provisional as they are inclined to adjust following the eligibility of some registered voters is challenged in the coming days.

The key Registration Exercise and the Mop-Up finished on Sunday the 9th of August, 2020.
