Coaching for women in ICT application commences in Oti region


The Ministry of Communications, in partnership with its agencies, is conducting instruction for about 570 schoolgirls in the Oti Location.

As component of the once-a-year National Women in Data & Communications Know-how (ICT) celebrations, these girls and youthful women of all ages will be inspired and empowered to enter into ICT associated scientific tests and careers.

It is also to empower equally girls and technological know-how providers to experience the rewards of higher female participation in the ICT sector.

The Women in ICT initiative is just one of the flagship programmes of the Ministry of Communications and is in line with the Worldwide Ladies in ICT Day backed by all ITU (Worldwide Technological innovation Union) Member States.

As element of the training, a brief tour and inspection of the schooling centres was performed by the Ministry and the Ghana Financial commitment Fund for Digital Communications (GIFEC).

Addressing trainees of the programme, Abraham Kofi Asante, Administrator of GIFEC, talking on behalf of the sector minister Madam Ursula Owusu-Ekuful reported the ICT program was organised to coach women in coding and also to pique their interest in the current ongoings of the ICT globe.

He indicated that in the Oti Area, the girls were selected from educational facilities in the Jasikan District, Kadjebi District, Biakoye District, Nkwanta North & South Districts, Krachi Districts and the SALL communities.

Abraham Asante extra: “Girls who will perform perfectly in the teaching would be selected, supplied certificates and an award of the institution of an ultramodern ICT laboratory to offer a lot more rooms for these kinds of university to advance their skills in ICT”.

“The Ministry of Communications would be developing ICT centres in the Oti Regional Money to serve as a useful resource heart to make ICT capacities,” he noted.

He also inspired the pupils to place much more attempts into their participation in the programme and turn out to be researchers and prepare designers in foreseeable future.

The coaching centres the group frequented include Kyabobo Girls’ Junior Significant College laboratory in the Nkwanta South Municipal, Nkwanta South Municipal ICT laboratory, Nkwanta South SHS Specialized laboratory and Oti SHS Technological laboratory in the Krachi East Municipality.

Also present at the tour were being Veronica Sackey (Director, Plan, Preparing, Checking and Analysis) and Dora Darkwa-Mensah (Director, Human Assets) of the Ministry of Communications, who inspired the pupils to target on the coaching in order to obtain the greatest know-how from the instruction to guarantee them professions in ICT.

Learners who have been beneath the ICT training expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Communications and GIFEC for the laudable initiative.
