President Nana Akufo-Addo has commissioned a 500-seat capability AstroTurf stadium at the University of Experienced Scientific tests, Accra (UPSA).
Addressing a mini durbar at the UPSA campus on Friday, the President claimed his authorities, by the Schooling and Sports activities Ministries, is committed to promoting sporting activities inside the instructional circles and is fully supportive of any initiatives aimed at achieving this objective.

President Akufo-Addo thinks the provision of sports infrastructure across communities and instructional establishments is instrumental to harnessing talents and catapulting the country into regaining its status as a sporting giant on the African continent.
“The provision of the requisite infrastructure to this end is crucial if our country is to regain its satisfaction and position in sporting activities on the continent and in the entire world,” he claimed.

President Akufo-Addo counseled the Management of UPSA for the monumental infrastructure and ongoing assignments dotted all over the campus.
“I’ve been amazed by the major infrastructural developments at UPSA and the regular endeavours of management to engender the transformation of this University into a state-of-the-artwork planet-class institution,” he claimed.

The Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. Abednego F. O. Amartey expressed the University’s gratitude to the President for his regular visits to the establishment describing them as “historic”.
“This is your third pay a visit to to the College of Expert Studies,” Prof Amartey claimed.

“Our university is the only college you have frequented a few moments during your presidency and we are most humbled. This is historic indeed and we are exceptionally grateful for your involvement in this venture from start to end.”
In July final 2019, the President lower the sod for the building of the sporting activities facility which was funded as a result of the University’s internally generated money.
Prof. Okoe Amartey pointed out that the construction of the AstroTurf stadium falls in line with Management’s eyesight to harness the sporting potential of the college students and persuade people today with sporting talents to make UPSA a mastering establishment of decision.

He unveiled that even though the facility is positioned on the UPSA premises, it would be open up to the community for the identification and advancement of the hidden expertise who may, a person day, increase to the top and bring laurels to the place.
The 500-seat capacity fenced stadium includes an artificial football pitch, spectator stands (like a VIP seating region), transforming rooms, washroom services, storage area and flood lighting. It also has places of work for the Sports Directorate of the College.
The stadium was created by the Wembley Sports Design Enterprise Ltd at a expense of ¢3,888,016.
