Some associates of the Movie Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) in Kumasi have threatened to embark on series of demonstrations in opposition to President Nana Akufo-Addo administration in excess of the relocation of the Film Village.

They approach to welcome Minister of Resourceful Arts, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, to Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi on Friday, September 18, 2020, with a substantial demonstration.

The building of the controversial film village has been relocated from Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South District to Sekyere in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Location.

FIPAG associates who are agitating against the relocation of the film village from Kunsu to Sekyere are Isaac Ofori Brempong (K. Obuorba Generation), Mawuli Ekpe Peter (National FIPAG Professional), Nana Yaw Kusi (Nayak Movies), Richard Sarkodie (Osoode Ventures), Joseph Serebour (Peace Films Manufacturing), Emmanuel Sarpong (Sards Multimedia Output), Abu Habib Banda (A.H Banda Film Manufacturing) and host of other people.

It would be recalled that scores of actors and actresses from the Ashanti Area on Wednesday, 24 July 2019 petitioned Parliament to make certain that a Film Village is crafted in Kumasi, the hub of Ghanaian flicks (Kumawood) alternatively the Kyebi, Eastern Area.

But Pro of Film Producers Association of Ghana Mawuli Ekpe Peter expressing their grievances to Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo mentioned FIPAG associates will not enable the government to relocate the construction of movie village from Kunsu to Sekyere.

According to him “After various consultations involving FIPAG members and Creative Arts Minister, we were being confident that the governing administration will develop the film village at Kunsu.”

“The Main of Kunsu Nana Agyemang Badu Dua I offered 300 acres of land to govt and FIPAG for the design of film village. All FIPAG members including actors and actresses know the government will construct a film village in Kunsu, not Sekyere” Peter.

He explained that “We had a assembly with Innovative Arts Minister Hon Barbara Oteng Gyasi lately and she informed us that the design of movie village has been relocated from Kunsu to Sekyere.”

“We are not satisfied with the government’s selection to relocate the building of a film village from Kunsu to Sekyere. Apart from Kunsu, we are not going to let the government to assemble the film village in any component of Ghana. We are the business gamers and we know where the film village will be excellent for us. The govt should pay attention to our issues to make the design of a movie village beneficial.”
