Pop icon Madonna has introduced she will direct a film about her own daily life and profession.
The star is also co-creating the motion picture with Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Juno and Younger Grownup.
The script is expected to chart her increase from the slums of New York to world superstardom, by using music these kinds of as Like A Virgin and Vogue.
The star explained the movie would focus on tunes, adding: “Music has held me heading and artwork has stored me alive.”
The as-nonetheless-untitled task will be Madonna’s third as director immediately after 2008’s Filth and Wisdom and 2011’s WE, which was dependent around King Edward VIII’s affair with Wallis Simpson.
The latter movie was panned by critics, and bombed at the box office environment, making just $2m (£1.5m) against a spending budget of $11m (£8.5m).
On the other hand, rock and pop biopics are in the center of a purple patch, with substantial successes for Elton John’s Rocketman and the Freddie Mercury film Bohemian Rhapsody, for which Rami Malek attained an Oscar.
Madonna’s entry to the style will be produced by Universal Shots – which previously attracted the artist’s anger by snapping up an unofficial script primarily based on her lifetime.
No casting or manufacturing timeline for the movie has been announced, but the pop star has charted the early phases of scripting on her Instagram account.
In a Q&A with enthusiasts, she mentioned the biopic would be about her “struggle as an artist seeking to survive in a man’s earth,” adding that the journey covers a range of thoughts: “happy, unfortunate, mad, outrageous, very good, terrible and ugly”.
She added that the plot would handle her marriage with artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, the fallout from her controversial Like A Prayer video clip and her knowledge filming Evita.
“I want to convey the remarkable journey that lifetime has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human staying, striving to make her way in this entire world,” Madonna claimed in a statement, confirming her directorial purpose.
“It’s essential to share the roller coaster trip of my daily life with my voice and vision.”
