Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richard Mpong, has lifted the lid on why he remaining Asante Kotoko to sign up for Dormaa-primarily based club Aduana Stars.
Richard Mpong won two Ghana Leading League titles with Asante Kotoko in 2012-13 and 2013-14 just before leaving the club to sign up for Aduana Stars for the 2016/2017 time.
Mpong, who was an integral member of the Aduana Stars crew that won the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League, in an interview with Accra dependent Angel FM disclosed that he remaining the Porcupine Warriors just after several wrongful accusations which dented his graphic in the eyes of the supporters.
“Kotoko is a club that have supported me considering that my childhood. Even the two my dad and mom are also supporters of the club but to be frank the exhilaration I used to play for Kotoko was not the exact same when leaving there mainly because you can be accused of some thing which is not legitimate so leaving Kotoko was all discomfort.”
In accordance to him, he was accused of sabotaging the Opoku Nti led administration right after the exit of Dr. K.K Sarpong.
Stating briefly how he bought on the crew, he pointed out that, “…Dr. K.K. Sarpong brought me to Kotoko when Didi Dramani was the coach of the club so immediately after his reign, then Opoku Nti’s reign so they mentioned simply because Dr. Sarpong brought some of us, the likes of Jordan Opoku, Jackson Owusu, and co, we are sabotaging the present-day administration which was not true”.
“How can a smallish dude like me guide these kinds of players to sabotage management?” He queried in an job interview on Angel FM.
The midfielder reported Opoku Nti and George Kennedy arrived to his house to apologise including that “what they believed wasn’t like that but then they’ve previously painted me black to the supporters”.
