President Nana Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the Tree Crops Improvement Authority, whose concentration will be on the enhancement of tree crops and the consequential gains to be accrued to the nation.
Inaugurating the Authority on Tuesday, at the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi, President Akufo-Addo spelled out that Government’s system is to boost the growth of tree crops, other than cocoa, with equal or even higher economic opportunity.
“The Tree Crops Progress Authority, which is the authorized and institutional result of PERD, will direct the agenda for the diversification of Ghana’s agriculture by establishing the tree crops sector,” he reported.
The President continued, “To kick commence the implementation of PERD, 7 tree crops namely mango, cashew, shea, rubber, cocoa, oil palm and coffee have been recognized and picked for promotion beneath the programme, 6 of which are instantly under the supervision of the Authority. I am hopeful that, faster than later, coffee will also be introduced less than the direct supervision of the Authority.”
With its headquarters, listed here, in Kumasi, the Authority will function like COCOBOD, and place in put guidelines and programmes to guide investigate, production, pricing and advertising and marketing of the six tree crops.
He instructed the accumulating that if the financial opportunity of the six selected tree crops is appropriately harnessed, Ghana could soon increase exponentially her agricultural export earnings.

The 29-member Board of Administrators of the Authority is chaired by Stephen Sekyere-Abankwa, with a pretty proactive management group consisting of Main Executive, William Quaitoo, and his two Deputies, Yaw Osei Oteng, in demand of Finance and Administration, and Foster Boateng, in cost of Functions.
President Akufo-Addo confident the Members of the Authority of the systematic initiatives being manufactured by Govt to secure funding for the upgrading of the relevant investigation establishments to aid in the efficient progress of the sector.
The President was self-confident that, in the fullness of time, Government’s strategy will be wholly vindicated when all these initiatives are vigorously executed.
