Ghana Olympic Committee spends about $ 126,000 on National Federations in 2019/2020

Ben Nunoo-Mensah, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has accounted for $126,716.00 employed to assist Countrywide Federations’ 2020 Olympic qualifications and other developmental actions in 2019/2020.

Talking at the Annual Normal Assembly held on Tuesday at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch, Mr. Nunoo-Mensah stated, the monies supplied the Federations had been to help its routines economically.

In his address, he mentioned “One of the important target of my administration is providing fiscal aid to the various National Federations. In 2019/2020 the GOC gave to the different Federations a full of $126,716.00 to help with their qualifiers and or as Development Grants.

In accordance to the President’s Report, the GOC supported the Ghana Soccer Affiliation with $8,000 and with the Ghana Fencing Association been given $5,943 although the Badminton Affiliation of Ghana acquired $7,540. Ghana Taking pictures Affiliation had $3,000 with Ghana Taekwondo Federation also getting $31,443 and Ghana Rugby also acquiring $8,000.

An amount of money of $5,930 was provided to the Ghana Biking Federation whilst $4,930 was presented to the Ghana Karate-Do Federation when Ghana Weightlifting Federation experienced $8,000 with Beginner Boxing acquiring $14,800. The Ladies Commission also been given $430 though Ghana Squash Association experienced $910.

Gals in Athletics was supported with a total of $910 although Rowing and Canoeing was also supported with $930 and Ghana Baseball supported at $950. Ghana Swimming Affiliation, Ghana Volleyball Association, and the Ghana Table Tennis Affiliation all gained $5000 every single with Ghana Athletics Affiliation receiving $10,000.

According to the President, the economical supports to the Federations made it achievable for some of their athletes to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games rescheduled for 2021 due to the worldwide pandemic, Coronavirus.

Also, the GOC now has 14 National team athletes on the GOC/IOC Scholarship programme which would guarantee some economic help via the athletes’ Olympic qualification to the end of the Video games in Tokyo.

The breakdown for every disciplines for the 2019 and 2020 fiscal 12 months are 7 Athletes from Ghana Athletics with a whole scholarship of $90,000.00, a few Athletes from Ghana Boxing with $30,000.00, two Athletes from Ghana Weightlifting acquired $30,000.00, one Athlete from Ghana Judo took $15,000.00 and an Athlete from Ghana Taking pictures with a scholarship of $15,000.00.
