Mark Okraku Mantey, CEO of Slip Songs
Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has rubbished claims he harbours hatred for Slip Audio boss Mark Okraku-Mantey, a motive he vehemently opposed his achievable nomination as Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Tradition.
The well-liked musician had in a video clip that has gone viral poohpoohed the ability of Mr. Okraku-Mantey to elevate the industry and go to to the plight of stakeholders when appointed a deputy minister for the sector.
Among the others, he expressed disgust more than the non-payment of royalties, lack of buildings, blatant disrespect for the arts which have contributed to some creatives residing and dying as paupers.
“Mark Okraku-Mantey can’t help us. I am the one who can assist the Ghana tunes marketplace. I swear,” a visibly offended Shatta Wale emitted.
His remark elicited quite a few reactions from stakeholders with some suspecting that his action was influenced by hatred primarily when Mr. Okraku-Mantey during his tenure of place of work as President of the Inventive Arts Council pushed for the Innovative Arts Bill to be passed into legislation.
But Shatta Wale in an interview with The Don on Hitz FM’s U Say Wetin doused the escalating pressure.
“I was not seeking to be rude to Mark Okraku-Mantey, he is a good man, he likes me, he is aware my character, he understands who I am, and he is familiar with I like to absolutely free my intellect,” stated Shatta Wale.
“But what I’m saying is, if we have Mark Okraku-Mantey going to characterize us, he needs to appear to my phrases of agreement, the industry terms of settlement. If inside six months, he can do magic, and we’ll be seeing labels in Ghana, we will sit down and fold our arms and view him do the job. I regard Mark a great deal and I know how he also would like to assist the business but we can’t make mistakes this time. We are all grown-ups,” he extra.
In the meantime, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has been nominated by President Akufo-Addo as Minister for Tourism, Arts and Tradition. The previous CEO of Graphic Communications Group has been moved from the Business Enhancement Ministry which he had been heading considering the fact that its development in 2017 to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry topic to acceptance by Parliament.
