The Nkawie Circuit Court has granted a ¢30,000 bail with two sureties to a 23-12 months-old motorcycle mechanic for stealing and possessing substances suspected to be cannabis.
Moro Karim was arrested by neighbourhood watchdog volunteers at about 0100 hrs at Nyinawusu, around Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District on September 08, last calendar year, carrying a motorcycle.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of thieving but denied possessing the hashish and would reappear just before the court docket presided by Mr Johnson Abbey on March 10, this yr.
Deputy Superintendent of Law enforcement, (DSP), Sylvanus Dalmeida advised the court docket that, the suspect was arrested by the watchdog volunteers and handed in excess of to the Nkawie District Law enforcement patrol team, when they noticed him carrying the motorbike at that hour.
He stated during interrogation, Karim admitted thieving the bike and a lookup on the bicycle discovered some dried leaves concealed in a bag which he claimed ownership.
DSP Dalmeida claimed the dried leaves were being sent to the Police Forensic Investigations Department in Accra for testing, and a report verified that the leaves were being cannabis which weighed 642.18 grams.
He stated the suspect was then billed and introduced prior to the courtroom.
