The Volta River Authority (VRA) has stated its resolve to diversify its electricity generating investment decision portfolio to photo voltaic, wind and biomass to keep on being aggressive in the market.

The initiatives involve the 60-megawatts Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam, which has an extra photo voltaic component of 50 megawatts.

The Authority is setting up 19.6 megawatts Kaleo/Lawra Photo voltaic Plants, even though its wind projects at Ada and Anloga are below enhancement.

“We will continue to nurse other possible renewable initiatives on the Oti River as properly as a pipeline of photo voltaic projects at Bongo, Walewale and other parts of the place,” Mr Antwi-Darkwa reported.

 “The Authority commissioned the Kpong Producing Station Retrofit Venture in Akuse, aimed at extending the daily life of the electro-mechanical infrastructure of the electrical power plant. We are confident that the Kpong station can now reliably provide 30 more several years of thoroughly clean energy.”

He explained the overall goal of the Authority was to build VRA into a community institution, which operated with a personal sector interest, stressing that its resolve was to be on a sound operational and financial footing by prudent administration practices.

Mr Kwame Agyeman-Budu, the Running Director of Electricity Firm of Ghana (ECG), counseled VRA for currently being the leader in the ability market and pledged the ECG’s guidance for the expansion of the Authority.
