3 basic schools in Eastern Region win Jan Binder Awards for clean, green environment

Kristodea Preparatory School won 2021 Jan Binder Award for most clean and green school

Three basic schools in the Eastern Region of the Ghana have won the Jan Binder Award for most clean and green schools for 2021.

Kristodea Preparatory in Nsawam, Kuano Bright Preparatory at Kuano, and Diamond Kids Academy also at Nsawam came first, second and third respectively.

Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans is spearheading the awards to encourage the concept of clean and green environment in basic schools in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic.

The Jan Binder Awards was instituted to acknowledge schools that adhere to a cleaner environment and prioritized the good health being of school children.

Kuano Bright Preparatory came second

It focuses on basic schools as an objective to inculcate trait of environmental consciousness in children right from the early stages of their development.

The Awards consider schools that have clean classrooms with waste bins which is emptied regularly, decent toilet facilities, clean compound with hand washing facilities, green environment among others.

Programs Manager and International and Partner Relations Officer at Sinapi Aba, Mrs Araba Ansong, said the award is very critical in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic where cleanliness and proper sanitation practices have become importantly part of the society.

Kristodea Preparatory received 10,500 cedis, Kuano Bright Preparatory had 7,000 cedis and Diamond Kids Academy got 3,500 cedis for being first, second and third respectively.

Proprietress of Kristodea Preparatory School, Barbra Otchere, reiterated the need to keep a good sanitary environment in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic.

“This award s a great priviledge and we are deeply gratified. in that we be able to keep maintaining a clean It will serve as a motivation to us to keep maintaining a clean environment.

We also encourage every school to practice proper hygiene because it always keep the children health and happy”.
