Mourners pack stadium to bid Nkurunziza farewell


Mourners dressed in white have packed the stadium where the funeral of Burundi’s late chief Pierre Nkurunziza is getting place, two weeks soon after his unexpected demise.

His overall body was escorted beneath significant security from a clinic in the central town of Karuzi, with hundreds of people today heeding a phone to line the road toward the ceremony in the funds Gitega.

Burundi’s govt explained he died from a coronary heart attack, but there is speculation he experienced coronavirus as his spouse experienced been sick with the illness.

Mr Nkrunziza died shortly just after an election won by Evariste Ndayishimiye, who was sworn in previous week. The former president was accused of critical human rights abuses.
